Prostate Cancer Treatment Comment

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in October of ’05. 66 years old, 2 of 12 biopsy samples tested malignant, 10% and 20% 2 suspicious, Gleason score of 6.

Found HIFU on the internet. The more I learned about HIFU the more appealing it became. Talked with several people from USHIFU, then Dr. Suarez called on January 2, 2006. After talking with him, decided HIFU was going to be my treatment.

Maria Tamayo, Dr. Suarez' coordinator was very helpful and knowledgeable in seeing I had all the necessary medical records. Dupont Travel in Miami, FL made all the travel arrangements. Westin Hotel & Resort in Puerto Vallarta was great.

The procedure went very well. Had supper at the hotel that evening. The next morning, walked down to the marina, had breakfast, then my wife and I went on a 4 hour sailing cruise in the Pacific Ocean.

Had the SP catheter for about 2 weeks. Did not have any pain or discomfort. Everything went very well. 1st PSA test at 3 months was .008. Would recommend HIFU as the best and only option for prostate cancer treatment.
