 Stephen M. Scionti, MD, FACS
Stephen M. Scionti, MD earned his BS in Neural Sciences and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He was awarded his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington. While at UConn Dr. Scionti participated in the “Scholars in Medicine” program. He completed his urology residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Dr. Scionti received the Outstanding Presentation Award at the Society of University Urology Residents annual meeting. Following his urology training, Dr. Scionti joined the US Navy and was commissioned in 1990 as a Lt. Commander in the Medical Corps serving at the Charleston Naval Hospital. While in Charleston, SC, Dr. Scionti was instrumental in establishing screening programs for prostate cancer and implementing minimally invasive surgical procedures at the Naval hospital.
After completing Naval service, Dr. Scionti relocated to Hilton Head Island, SC and established a full-time private urology practice dedicated to the minimally invasive treatment of urologic disease. Dr. Scionti is the managing partner and Director of Cryosurgery and Minimally Invasive Prostate Surgery at the Coastal Carolina Urology Group, a private urology practice in Hilton Head Island. He also serves as Director of Men’s Health at LifeSpan Centre for Integrative Health in Hilton Head. Dr. Scionti is board certified in urology and a member of the American Urological Association. His clinical and research interests are focused on the accurate diagnosis and the minimally invasive treatment of prostate cancer. Dr Scionti is committed to providing personalized, tailored treatments for prostate cancer, balancing cancer treatment with maintaining quality of life. Lastly, Dr. Scionti has been integral in the development of the training course presented to urologists for certification in high intensity focused ultrasound(HIFU) in the treatment of prostate cancer and serves as a course director for the USHIFU physician training program.
